Earth Song of the Week (Iroquois Social Songs)

Ohwejagehka: Hadegaenage:

Since its inception, Ohwęjagehka: Haˀdegae:nage: has distributed Earth Songs 'Ohwejagehka Gaenasho:oh' (or Iroquois Social Songs) as an effort to preserve and promote Iroquoian culture. This was (and still is) accomplished through the free duplication of CDs. In recent years with techological advances, the preference has switched to digital formats instead of CDs. Thus, this an effort to reach a broader audience and ease the transitions to digital. As you can notice from the title, the plan is to share a different 'Earth Song' each week (or so). Started this initiative previously, but the shared songs were used inappropriately, so it was discontinued. The features of Soundcloud allow for another attempt, and restarting as podcast also. These recordings are for your listening enjoyment and helping those who want to learn. Under no circumstances are the recordings to be sold or used for any commercial, or unauthorized purposes. Please do not betray the trust of the singers or speaker’s intent to share and preserve our culture. Your help is needed, if you notice someone misusing any Ogweho:weh recording (not just the recordings shared here), please use your voice. Not to shame the individual in public view, but to kindly remind them of a different approach. Please email any feed back.
